 It was a beautiful day. The sun was just rising, and already its rays warmed both the birds and the animals and the passersby hurrying down the streets, so there was no need to bundle up any warmer. A gentle breeze carried the happy chirping of the birds everywhere. It embraced everyone it could reach, tangled in their hair, and then flew on. Those who had brought sweaters took them off and waved them back and forth, unsure how to best arrange them. And they smiled. You would smile too after such embraces!

Have you noticed how the morning chill makes everything feel fresh and promising, filled with kindness and joy? Perhaps that's why even “night owls,” who wake up early, still find mornings pleasant and hopeful.

The two women had an appointment to see a folk healer that day.

One of the friends went early, and they hurried to get ready and catch the train.

In those days, our heroine was young and strikingly beautiful, like a flower bathed in morning sunlight, and she was susceptible to judgment. Her delicate, pale pink skin revealed her emotions instantly; at times, her cheeks would flush rosy, while at others, her blood would drain, leaving her complexion resembling fine Chinese porcelain.
