There is Not Spring Without Tulips

Spring 2010 was not happy for me. For different reasons. One of them was that I did not plant tulips in autumn. I did not think about it before, I noticed it only when I had not tulips in spring. Here, in this part of Italy, persons are not fans of this flower, probably, but for me, grown with this plant as the first sign of coming summer, more than spring, sincerely, tulips are a very important condition of wellbeing.

So, I planted some tulips in the vases in autumn and have some of them that just donate me their beauty, now. Unfortunatelly, worms or I do not know what else ate many plants in the vases.

You will maybe not believe me but there are many cactuses that have just flowers, too. It's the second year when they flower so early.

And here is the other sign of spring: cherries open their flowers. They are not the first. The plum tree was the first. But I did not photograph it.

Yes, spring began just, for plants and for animals. But not for humans. The weather is terrible. Winds and cold. (well, relatively...) The red sunset shows how few hope of good day we have... The only good notice is that there are not rains. These days.

Loving Host Families for NY Citie's Children Needed

The Fresh Air Fund asked me a year ago to publish their appeal that they are looking for the families that can invite children to stay with them in summer. Now, I received a mail with the request to publish this notice (I copy from the site The Fresh Air Fund

In 2010, The Fresh Air Fund's Volunteer Host Family program, called Friendly Town, gave close to 5,000 New York City boys and girls, ages six to 18, free summer experiences in the country and the suburbs. Volunteer host families shared their friendship and homes up to two weeks or more in 13 Northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.

Thanks to host families who open up their homes for a few weeks each summer, children growing up in New York City’s toughest neighborhoods have experienced the joys of Fresh Air experiences.

More than 65% of all children are reinvited to stay with their host family, year after year.

Today the Fund thinks just about the coming summer and invites the families from these zones to partecipate on their program and host children in their houses. This is the map of the zones they need to cover.

Сlosefisted Antique Romans

This is a very interesting question I took home after I visited the Arcaeological museum of Paestum.

The story preceding it is this: antique Romans were, as said in the title, very closefisted. Or maybe they were simply rationally thinking. They adored statues (learned it by previous Greek culture -that is why there are many copies from Greek originals that existed at the times of Romans else) but often had not enough money to buy them for every occasion. So, they adopted a simple strategy: they changed the heads of the statues. The cost of the only head is clearly much more reasonable. Specially, if one lives in the times when the Emperors change faster than the seasons.

Here, on these two photos, you can see clearly what I'm speaking about. You can see that even the arms could be easily changed if necessary.





My question is about this next statue. It's obvious that the head was broken, the arms and legs broken, too. But one part was clearly replaceble. It's evident even if you see on the photo.

Now, could you explain me: why had they to change THIS part?

Journalists Killers or Consciousness Rising in Journalism

It's maybe normal for humanity, to look for mass crazinesses, and I'm not right when I accuse TV journalists to be conscious indirect killers, but I have the impression that it's the rude truth: the idea fix to appear in TV pushes the instable persons out to invent crimes that will go in the TV news -from one side. And the media shows around these tragedies are seen by other instable persons as the indulgence, permission for themselves to make similar crimes.

Just some minutes far I read an article written by a journalist how his consciousness rose after he became a journalist.

This morning, the TV news told that the body of the girl that disappeared some months ago was finally found in a river. It was the second case after the journalists created a real bedlam around an other killed girl where all the family (aunts, uncles and specially one of the cousins that dreamed all her life to become a TV star -now in a prison) partecipated very happily on the journalists' inquest. Later, one uncle confessed, he killed the girl, and today they say all those members of the family partecipated on the murder.

I'm sure, if there was not this "happy partecipation", the second girl would be alive.

No, it's not the first case. Years ago after an other TV show when one mother killed her child, there were many months when many other mothers killed their children. One of them drowned even 3 of them in a city lake.

Some time later, there were cases when big dogs killed people. It was the impression that all the big dogs of Italy became mad from one day to other. Every day one or more dogs like Rottweilers etc killed and killed persons. Than,
